Johnson O’Malley (JOM)

The Johnson O’Malley (JOM) program provides supplemental educational opportunities and advocacy for Alaska Native and American Indian students from three years of age through grade 12 in the Juneau and Wrangell public school systems. The program is guided by local parent committees, and the emphasis is on tutorial and cultural enrichment activities.

The program includes:

  • In-Class and 1:1 Academic Support
  • After-School Homework club and Native Youth Council
  • Student Advocacy
  • Post-Secondary Planning

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be between the age of three to grade 12.
  • Must be enrolled in a public school within the communities served.
  • Must be Alaska Native or American Indian

Some communities operate their own JOM program. Tribal citizens residing in these communities, including the communities listed below, must contact their local Indian Reorganization Act (IRA) office:
