Tlingit & Haida Announces 2025 President’s Award Recipients

Every year, the Central Council of the Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida) recognizes incredible people throughout Southeast Alaska and beyond who have contributed significantly to tribal citizens and communities through their leadership, cultural preservation, education, and many other ways.

Tlingit & Haida will honor 11 exceptional individuals at the President’s Awards Banquet in Juneau, Alaska. The banquet is a yearly event followings the conclusion of the 90th Annual Tribal Assembly.

“We are honored to celebrate these 11 remarkable people whose hard work, passion, and dedication make a difference every day in the lives of our people,” said President Chalyee Éesh Richard Peterson. “The President’s Awards serve as a reminder of the power of community and the importance of uplifting those who are working tirelessly to improve the lives of our people. We are proud to recognize their contributions and share their stories with others.”

Shaping Our Future
The President’s Banquet includes a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting a 12-acre education campus in Juneau. The campus will be dedicated to cultural and educational spaces that integrate traditional knowledge with modern academic practices.
