Will Micklin

Will Micklin’s Tlingit name is Yaan Yaan Eesh. He is Wolf (Eagle) / Brown Bear of the Teikweidi clan, House of Kaats, Tantakwaan (Tongass Tribe) of Ketchikan. His father’s people are descendants of the Powhatan people, and his grandfather’s people are the Ganax.adi.

He was elected to serve a two-year term as 4th Vice President on Tlingit & Haida’s Executive Council in 2022. This is his seventh term on the Executive Council. He has been a Tlingit & Haida Delegate since 1994 and is Chairman of the Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation.

Since 1995, Will has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ewiiaapaayp Band of Kumeyaay Indians, a federally recognized tribe and reservation. Will volunteers as Executive Director for the statewide inter-tribal association of California tribes, the California Association of Tribal Governments, since its founding in 2008. Federal agencies have appointed Will to serve on tribal advisory committees, including currently and in the past the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Energy, Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Interior, and Federal Communications Commission.

Will graduated with a Bachelor or Arts in English Literature from the University of Washington in 1982. He is a member of the Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 14, a lifetime member of the National Congress of American Indians, and a shareholder of Sealaska Corporation and 13th Regional Corporation.
